Blogger Since 2005

During the wake of my godmother’s father, I was surprised to hear that her sisters had already visited my blog. One of them even said to some of the visitors that I write well. Woah. I take it as a complement (thank you!), but actually I cannot accept it completely because I never imagined myself as a good writer.

Well, the term “can write well” can mean differently for different people. It may be because of their correct grammar or may be because of their choice of topics. I know that I am not excellent in English grammar but I wish that someday I would be able to write and speak in English without any mistake. Well, I can say that blogging in English is a good training ground for those who want to improve their English grammar skills.

My topics ever since I started blogging revolves around my daily life. Not only about my life, but also about others who affect me in one way or another. If we come to think of it, in a day, there are short stories in our lives which we can put all together at the end of the day. These stories will then give us realizations. Through realizations, we can then share our opinions.

By emphasizing that I am a blogger since 2005, it doesn’t mean that I am boasting the number of years that I’ve been in the blogging world. It just makes me feel good that by going through my old blog entries, it make me realize how I’ve grown and changed in the previous years. My opinions may have changed, but I believe that it is part of our learning process.

As I always say, I don’t know up to when I will be interested in blogging, but I am still enjoying it as of this moment.

Forewords, Forewords, And Endless Forewords

twopointzero-2

Everytime I move to a new blog, or give it a new look, I always do a foreword that sometimes I already don’t know what to say but a very predictable, “Welcome to my new blog!” or “Welcome to a new chapter in my blog!”. But new beginnings in my blog have always something to do with my experiences, especially whenever I have realizations that give me new hopes and outlooks.

It’s almost three weeks since I last made a mark in this blog and lots of things had happened after that. Well, not to mention that I’ve been really busy at work recently.

There were big and sad news that came up recently – the death of Bishop Lewis T. Lucea of the Philippine Independent Catholic Church and the death of former President Corazon Aquino. They both moved people with their courage and determination. They made a big impact to many people that’s why losing them is hard to accept.

I had a wonderful trip in Coron, Palawan with my officemates and friends. It was a three day trip and I really felt close to nature during that time. The place is really amazing and it really made me realize that God is so great for creating such a wonderful place.

We celebrated the 60th birthday of our vice president here in our office. They planned to make a compilation of birthday greetings in a video. The editing part was given to me. I loved doing it though I was in a “hell week at work” by then. Well, I may have watched the interviews a lot of times before we presented it, but it was when we presented it that made me felt touched.

As I mentioned, work really pressured me recently. I needed to manage my time wisely, and to go on work extensions. I just think that it would be all worth it in the end.

It’s also been a while since I last went out with my friends that’s why we took the opportunity last Friday to have dinner and share stories. It was not an ordinary night for us after we have talked seriously about what’s been going to us recently. All I want to do right now is to have a “group hug”!

But one of my biggest realizations recently is about love. Well, I don’t want to sound “cheesy” but I realized that when you are in love, you don’t ask for anything in return. You will realize that you are happy showing a person that you care. Time is precious. Show the person that you care because you might regret if you did not get the chance to do so.

I really still have lots of stories to tell. But then again, today marks another fresh start in my blog as I post another foreword. As the subtitle suggests, this is Rowjielogy…. two point zero.

For Tita Cory

| View Show | Create Your Own

Before August 1 came, I am trying to compose in my mind a blog entry about a topic that has been running in my mind for the past few days. Saturday came and I thought it was just another ordinary morning. My mom was talking on the telephone with my aunt, until I heard her reaction, “Ah, namatay na?”. Of course, I felt nervous and I wondered who died. My mom shouted, “Rowell, si Cory patay na”. I opened the website of GMA News to confirm, and sadly, our beloved former president Corazon Aquino died that morning.

I know everybody felt sad because of the news. I wanted to do a blog entry about her last Saturday but it seemed like I am still shocked and speechless because of the news. I don’t know how to start it, and I don’t know what my entry should be about.

As long as I have the time, I watch tributes for her on television. We might know a lot of things about her as the former president of our country. But her stories as a mother and as a friend are really inspiring and touching. I believe that every Filipino is sadly affected by the death of Cory.

Yesterday, her remains were transferred from La Salle Greenhills to Manila Cathedral, and the people along Ayala Avenue got the chance to give respect and bid goodbye to the former president.

I didn’t miss the chance to be there. I joined my office mates went out of the office and waited under the sun. It was raining hard yesterday morning but God is good that the sun was showed up during the procession. People didn’t mind the hot temperature.

Personally, the feeling I had while standing along Ayala Avenue was a mixture of sadness, and proudness as a Filipino. Seeing the support from all the people gives me teary eyes, that’s why I know that the family of Cory feels really happy.

Without her courage, I might not have this opportunity to express myself through this blog. And with this freedom, I hope we won’t abuse it.

As an ordinary Filipino citizen, I hope that we won’t forget Cory. Let’s not just keep her in our history books. Let her legacy lives on. Let us not lose hope for our country. It’s not yet too late. She is proud to be a Filipino. Let us make her prouder, with her guidance from up above.
