Timeout Rowjie!
|
A lot of American Idol blog entries has been in my blog recently… A lot of deadlines to meet in my work recently… A lot of things to do and think because we are moving in to a new house very soon…
And again, I came to a point where my mind suddenly shouted, “Timeout!”…
I’ve been posting a lot of “not so personal” things in my blog recently - American Idol stuffs to be exact. I am an avid fan of Season 7 and I really wanted to share my thoughts regarding the show. And now it’s over, I now have Wednesdays and Thursdays again to post whatever I like.
I really had lots of things to do in my job recently - coding, testing, presentations, etc. It really makes my mind tired after each working day. And I was surprised that my 5 months probationary contract is over. I thought at first that I’d leave this company before my fifth month. But I am still here… for regularization. If you ask me if I am already happy with my work… Well, I’m already used to it… But happy? It’s still a hard question to answer. Yah, I am happy with the outcome of my work (hopefully, they are too), but there are really still a lot of things I want to do and to learn. I know there’s more outside… But adjusting to a new environment is really depressing for me. And that is what I am already trying to avoid.
I want to work with people who are like me… You know, someone who I can relate to, or someone who can relate to me. It’s not that I am not happy with my work mates, but I really want to express my childish side with people I know who can understand me.
We are moving to a new house very soon. During the early stages of the construction, I was really filled with excitement. And now that we are just counting down the days, I still feel excited, but also somehow sad because we are already going to leave the house where I love for almost my whole life. I’ll definitely miss my grandma and my auntie who lives beside our house. I will leave all my things which I already don’t need. No more thinking of “sentimental values”.
It feels like that I am about to open a new chapter in my life soon… hoping for better and happier things to come.
My life for the past few months just evolved on work, household chores, house construction, some time for recreation, and some time for myself. I just realized that I feel like I am missing something… love.
So much things happened the past months. It’s hard to love when you know to yourself that you aren’t ready yet. And that’s what I felt. But I just woke up one day that I suddenly felt like I want to feel the same old feeling again… I want to love somebody the way I loved before… And I want to be loved again the way I felt before…

Kokology: On Your Birthday…
|
Kokology Ep.4: Your birthday is the one day a year when you’re justified in expecting things to be just a little nicer than usual. Well wishes and congratulations, presents and cards, maybe even a party or romantic dinner for two.
It’s your birthday today, and when you check your mailbox you see you’ve gotten a card from someone you would have never suspected. Who is the sender? You have also received a number of gifts from family and friends. Of that group, who sent you the biggest package? (Give the names of people in your life when answering this quiz.)
My Answers: Actually, I thought of two friends. But just to explain my side, the friend I thought in the first question is someone whom I haven’t talked with for a long time already. The friend I thought in the second question is someone who is really generous, but I make sure that I do not take advantage of him.
Key to “On Your Birthday…”
The responses you gave signify your true feelings about people in your life, feelings you might not even be aware of yourself.
The person who undexpectedly sent you a card is actually someone you would like to care more about you or give you more attention. In short, the person you named as the sender is someone you worship from afar. Is it someone you barely know, someone you’ve been hesitant to approach, or just a friend you haven’t heard from in a while? Maybe it’s time you made the first move toward bridging the gap.
On the surface, you might associate the biggest package you received with good feelings about the sender. But from a psychological perspective, the person you named as the sender is actually someone whose affections you take for granted. This doesn’t necessarily signify a lack of respect, but you definitely feel confident of their feelings for you. Be careful not to get overconfident. What feels like security to you may look like plain selfishness to others.

Ice Breaker 1: Cards 6-10
|
Points of View Ep.17: I will now choose five cards from the Ice Breaker 1 collection (randomly). And here are the questions for this episode…
6. What honest mistake have you committed that turned out to be favorable to you?
There was this incident back when I was in Grade 6. One of my teachers asked me to give her payment (50 pesos) to our cafeteria. I do admit that I was really wrong for not giving the payment to the right person. And because of that, my teacher thought that I stole her money. I know that I was wrong for giving the money to the wrong person, but I think it is also wrong for my teacher to think that I stole her money. I am telling you that up to this moment, I will stand by with what I told her… that I did not steal her money. That is the truth. And I am happy that my my friends believe in me, that’s why I think that mistake had been favorable to me.
7. Comment on this: “It is better to give than to receive.”
Oh well, this is a very famous saying. But all I can say is it is good that we should be thankful for all the blessings we receive. And one way to show it is to give back… share…
8. What is your attitude toward adversity and temptation?
Hmmm.. Adversity means… a state of misfortune or affliction; “debt-ridden farmers struggling with adversity”; “a life of hardship”; a stroke of ill fortune; a calamitous event; “a period marked by adversities. Well, of course, I would feel really depressed.
Temptation… I actually give in easily to temptations. Haha. But of course, we have our conscience to tell us if what we are doing is right or wrong. That’s why I am thankful to my conscience because my conscience is really strong. Hehe.
9. What good traits do your father and mother have which you see in your personality?
Oh… Just like I said previously, I hate answering questions asking about your own good traits. Haha. But all I can say is, I am really lucky for having the parents I have.
10. What is your favorite room in the house?
Of course, my room. Haha.

American Idol (Season 7) Moments
|
Yesterday was a memorable and happy day for all David Cook fans after he won the title as the new American Idol. Actually I thought David Archuleta will win after the performances the other night. Surely, the finals is one of the most memorable moments of this season.
And as promised, I’ll be posting a blog entry about my favorite moments in this season of AI. The auditions will always be memorable because we saw potential talents, as well as weird and funny people. There are contestants from the Top 12 who already shone during the auditions. But the most memorable audtion for me is Reynaldo Lapuz’s audition… Yeah, a fellow Filipino who sang the hit “I Am Your Brother”. The auditon clip was really funny most especially when Randy, Ryan, and Paula (dancing) joined Reynaldo. I think it should’ve been really memorable because he performed in the finals with a band. Good job!
There were also contestants from the Top 24 who I thought ca make it to the top 12, like Asia’h Epperson and Danny Noriega. I really love Asia’h’s “Piece of My Heart” performance. I am somehow disappointed when she got eliminated. I know it’s tough for her to sing “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”, after being eliminated.
Danny Noriega is one of the coolest guys I saw on Idol. He is really entertaining when he performs. His reactions to Simon’s comments are really funny. Many admired him for being true to his self. But nevertheless, Danny already gained fans.
My most favorite themes in this season are the Lennon and McCartney Songbook, songs of the Beatles, and songs of Mariah Carey. The contestants for this season are lucky to sing songs from those music icons.
It’s so nice that the contestanst have recorded studio versions of the songs they sang in the contest. I know that it was a really big help for them so that people will like them more.
There were some results night when the results were disappointing, like when Amanda Overmyer, Carly Smithson and Michael Johns were eliminated. On the other hand, there were also contestants whom I wished have been eliminated earlier, like Kristy Lee Cook and Jason Castro (I am sorry to all their supporters!). Syesha Mercado is a talented girl but I don’t know why I don’t like her. There were times when I wished she will be eliminated. I like her studio version “Got To Get You Into My Life”. But I don’t think it was good when she performed it live. This is also the same with Jason Castro’s “If I Fell”, and Ramiele Malubay’s “I Should Have Known Better”.
Speaking of Ramiele, one of the reasons why many Filipinos watched this season of AI is because of her. Filipinos were really supportive of Ramiele. But like what many Filipinos said, she always had a wrong choice of song. Unfortunately, Ramiele got eliminated in the Dolly Parton week. But Ramiele is such a sweet and talented girl. I hope to see more of her soon!
There were also some contestants who forgot the lyrics of the song they were singing during the performance night - David Archuleta, Brooke White, and Jason Castro.
I love Brooke. She really sings from the heart. I know there’s a bright future ahead of her.
I am happy for Carly when Simon loved her performance during the Andrew Lloyd Webber week. She even got a t-shirt with the words, “Simon loves me! (This Week)”. The funny thing there is she got eliminated the day after.
Of course, there were performances that really stood out, like David Archuleta’s “Imagine”. That performance really moved me. But it is David Cook who got more peformances that I really like: “Hello”, “Eleanor Rigby”, and “Always Be My Baby”. Those performances really rocked that’s why I wanted him to be the winner, and fortunately, he is.
We should also not forget the people of American Idol… Ryan Seacrest, Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, and the much awaited comments from Simon Cowell.
I believe that Season 7 of AI isa really successful. But like what they say, all good things come to an end. And so, my American Idol Season 7 blog entries end here. It was one wonderful ride… It is also inspiring seeing other people dreams come true! Dream Big… Dreams do come true!
