Company Outing 2009

My Story

Colorsplashed Summer

My day started earlier than usual yesterday when I woke up by 2:30 am. I got out of the bed early because I haven’t fixed my things yet for our company outing. I had to go out of the house early because our scheduled call time was 5:30 am. I did everything fast - from fixing my things, eating breakfast, and taking a bath. I went out of the house at around 4:45 am. My travel was fast that I managed to be in the office by 5:30 am.

I was actually disappointed that the scheduled 5:30 am call time wasn’t followed. Actually I was expecting that we will leave Makati later than the scheduled time. We left Makati few minutes after 7 am. There was a little heavy traffic going to Laguna that’s why we arrived in Royal Palm Leisure Park & Resort few minutes after 9 am. The weather was actually fine when we arrived there though the expected rain fell in the afternoon. But still, we enjoyed swimming.

We enjoyed our meals because the foods were delicious and more than enough. We held our activities in the afternoon where we had several games. It was actually fun and somehow a form of “team building”.

We went back swimming again and ate our merienda as the first batch of those who want to go home went back to Manila at 5:30 pm, and the second batch (where I joined) at 8:30 pm. We arrived in the office at around 11pm.

I actually enjoyed our outing… it’s actually a wonderful experience. I felt all my tiredness when I arrived at home.

Kokology: Written In The Stars

Kokology

When you look up into a star-filled sky at night, sometimes it’s possible to lose yourself in the infinite depths of space. We may be aware of their vast distances from eart, yet the stars still look like friendly messengers and granters of dreams when we see them twinkling in the dark. As the hours grow late, it’s a comfort to look up and have their distant power to draw upon. For this next game, you’ll need paper and a pencil.

1. First, draw three stars of different sizes.
2. Next, draw a comet’s tail on one (and only one) of your stars.

My (Imaginary) Drawing:

In my imagination, I have a drawing of three stars whose sizes are just near from each other, having the smallest one with the comet’s tail.

Key To Written In The Stars

The stars combine a glittering image of the power to grant wishes and make dreams come true with a sense of distance and unattainability. Stars determine our present and give a hint of things to come. Your drawing illuminates your work life in general and your current career path in particular.

1. The largest star you drew represents the job you hold now, it’s potential and its disappointments. If the difference in size betweem that star and the other two is not very great, it signifies dissatisfaction or at least disinterest in  your career, a willingness to shop around and keep your options open. Watch for an unexpected call from a headhunter. They have ways of finding these things out.

On the other hand, if your job star is much larger than the others, it indicates you’re deeply absorbed and committed to your current path. Your concern should be not to fall into the trap of workaholism. All work and no play is no way to live.

2. In cultures throughout history and around the world, coments have been seen as harbingers of disaster and cataclysmic change. The star you gave a comet’s tail to represents trouble looming on the horizon. If it’s on one of the smaller stars, you’re in luck; the heavens have overlooked you for now. But if your largest stars is a comet, it might be a good time for you to bring your resume up-to-date. The stars never lie.

Earth Day 2009

Events

earthday2009

Good day everybody! Today, we are celebrating Earth Day. And today, I am also launching a section here in my blog called “RowjieloGREEN”. Global warming is a global problem so I think it would be better if we all become aware of this problem. Being aware of this problem can actually drive and motivate us to cooperate in providing and putting into actions even the simplest solutions.

Being the country with the most number of participants in the previous Earth Hour is actually a good start for us here in the Philippines. It is actually nice that events like these are getting better each year. But I hope this does not end with these events. We can actually do something good for our mother earth everyday even by our own simple means. If we all sum up all these small actions, then it is really something big. Mother earth love us so much, so let us love her back. Have a happy and meaningful Earth Day to everybody!

Back To Back Horror Movie Trip

Review

The past two movies I watched were both local horror films - Sundo (GMA Films, starring Robin Padilla) and T2 (Star Cinema, starring Ms. Maricel Soriano). Well, undeniably, the leading stars of both film are big stars of the local industry. I think it is one of the reasons why many people got interested to watch these movies.

Sundo

I heard many positive feedbacks about Sundo, most especially on how the movie ended. They said that the ending of the movie is unexpected. I got curious about it that’s why I watched it.

The story of Sundo is actually quite predictable. Most of the characters in the movie didn’t make a big impact in the movie. I actually like how the movie ended, though I think this kind of ending has been used by other films before.

But in fairness to Sundo, I like it’s cinematography. There was already a feeling of horror upon the beginning of the film. The director made sure that you will not lose this feeling up to the end of the movie. I also like how the movie suddenly ended. In short, it was actually straight forward.

T2

I think that there was a huge expectation for the film T2, since it’s coming from Star Cinema who produced box-office horror films before like Feng Shui, and Sukob, plus the fact that the leading start of the film is Ms. Maricel Soriano. I first read a critic review of T2 which made me somehow disappointed. I then read the review of movie goers, where they said that it is a great movie. I wanted to watch the film myself so I can judge based on my opinion.

There was some minutes of boredom in the beginning of the film. I thought that maybe they wanted to build up the story at the first part of the film. Everyone in the cinema started screaming when the story reached it’s conflict. There were really lot of shocking scenes from the movie. I just got disappointed that it became more of a fantasy film rather than a horror film when it reached it’s climax. I agree with the critic review I read that the climax of the movie is weak. They showed scary scenes at the end to give a teaser of a possible part two of the movie, but aside from that, it gave me an impression that they added it to lessen several disappointments that some people might have with it’s ending.

Okay… In fairness to the film, as I mentioned earlier, it was good when the story reached the conflict. The visual effects were good enough, but I just didn’t to see much of those in a horror film.

My Story

Happy 24th Birthday!

I made it a point to make a blog entry on the day of my birthday. Well, it’s just about what happend in my life for the past year and what I want to happen in the coming year. This year, I made it different by making this blog entry after my birthday.

I can say that I am actually happy on how I celebrated my birthday. It’s somehow different from my previous birthdays.

Last Thursday, I watched a movie with my movie mates - Julie, Bam, and Florence, and another office mate,  Mico. That was actually the start of my birthday celebration. We had fun that night even though we watched a horror film.I am thankful for my new found friends in the office.

Friday… I was thinking of what to buy for my officemates. I decided to made it different this time that’s why I thought of buying ice creams during our lunch break so there was a little “ice cream party” that afternoon. I am actually overwhelmed with the greetings my officemates gave me even  though I celebrated my birthday in advanced.

Friday night, another set of friends (Linnette, Wella, Cherry, & Harry) invited me to have a little night out. They kept on greeting me “happy birthday” which really overwhelmed me. I saw Linnette writing a letter in a tissue paper which she gave to me later on. I am a very sentimental person that’s why I really appreciated that letter and I am actually keeping it. Wella sent out a birthday greeting to me through the band who was performing in Giligan’s Island that night. That night was really fun. I was still in Makati when the clock stroke 12 midnight. My friends greeted me happy birthday.

My friends Mark and Jay-Ar sent a birthday greeting via SMS during that time. They never fail to do it and that is actually one of the many reasons why I am grateful for having them as friends. My friend James also sent a greeting before I went to sleep. I want to also thank my friends who never forget to greet me.

I spent the day with my mom and the night with my friends - Mark, Jay-Ar, and Kim. We first watched our friend James in an HSBC event near SM Mall of Asia. (My friend James is actually a good dancer). Afterwards, we decided to eat dinner in World’s Chicken. Later on, Kim said that Jay-Ar saw a block mate from college that’s why he went out for a while. He returned after few minutes. I was surprised when he suddenly put out a balloon (the picture above) and gave it to me. I was actually speechless during that time. We then ate while chatting. When we were all about to finish our foods, Jay-Ar suddenly put out a small chocolate cake with a candle. Wow. I am speechless during that moment but I really want to keep on saying thank you.

Today, I went out with my mom, sister, auntie, and grandmother, and ate lunch in SM Mall of Asia. It was my birthday treat for them.

I am also thankful to those who greeted me online. I really appreciate everything!

As years pass by, my perception about birthday changes. I used to see birthday as a day when I will receive gifts, and a day when I want everyone to greet me. This actually changed as I grew older. I actually see it now as a day when God gave me another fresh start in my life. I will be honest to say that I actually want my friends to remember me on my special day. I know everyone wants that on their birthday. But started to don’t mind it much already. Instead, I just let it if people will remember it or not.

There were a lot of things that happened to me in the previous year of my life: We moved in to a new house, I got to know my officemates better, I enrolled in a gym, I became aware of the global warming crisis, I tried new things which I haven’t tried before, I went to Bohol, and I met new people. Of course, it was not always easy, I also experience some financial problems, and my grandma passed away last year. I know that these experiences mold me as a person as I grow older, and  I hope, it is always for a better me.

For my past two birthdays, I told myself that I want to learn and do new things, and meet new people. I am actually happy that I’ve been able to somehow do those things and I want that to continue and improve.

But this year, there is something new that came to my mind for what I want to happen in my 24th year… I want to learn to simplify my life. :) I also want to do something for our environment, and somehow be an influence even in little ways.

I also wish good health for my family and friends, and that we will always have a harmonious relationships.

Once again, I wanna thank everybody who remembered me on my special day. I really appreciate it.
