Week In Review (Week 11)

Week In ReviewMarch 23-29, 2008

Well, it’s back to work last Monday after a long weekend because of holy week. I felt somehow lazy but I needed to go to work because I have a presentation tomorrow (good luck to me!). Well, no choice. Speaking of work, I am again in a state of confusion. It seems like I really want to quit already… I thought that I want to work with people like me… you know what I mean. Oh well, I am giving myself again days to think about it. But I want to come up with a decision on or April 17, 2008, exactly one month before my contract expires. Anyway, it’s still my choice.

Of course, Wednesday and Thursday are American Idol days here in the Philippines. Hehe. Well, it’s my latest craze. Chikezie Eze has been eliminated from the contest. I am also having some brainstorming right now for version 2.5 of Rowjielogy.

Live MoBlogging: Earth Hour

Good evening everybody! This is a very special post because it’s the earth hour. I know that many show their support for this by turning off their lights for an hour. As a blogger, I am showing my support by posting this blog entry using my mobile phone.

Earth Hour

Earth HourOn March 31 2007, for one hour, Sydney made a powerful statement about the greatest contributor to global warming – coal-fired electricity – by turning off its lights. Over 2.2 million Sydney residents and over 2,100 businesses switched off, leading to a 10.2% energy reduction across the city. What began as one city taking a stand against global warming caught the attention of the world.

In 2008, 24 global cities will participate in Earth Hour at 8pm on March 29. Earth Hour is the highlight of a major campaign to encourage businesses, communities and individuals to take the simple steps needed to cut their emissions on an ongoing basis. It is about simple changes that will collectively make a difference – from businesses turning off their lights when their offices are empty, to households turning off appliances rather than leaving them on standby.

Oops… Bloggers, what can we do?

Aside from turning off the lights, as bloggers, what else can we do to support Earth Hour? My suggestion, instead of blogging using our PCs tomorrow, why not try blogging using our mobile phones? Moblogging. Almost all blogs can now support mobile posting. Isn’t it a great idea? :)

American Idol (Season 7): Top 10 Results Night

IdolOh my! I only got one out of three of my wild guess for the bottom three for this episode. I guessed Carly, Kristy, and Jason. And it was only Jason who was in the bottom three. Huhu. The other two are Syesha and Chikezie.

Though I don’t like Syesha, I don’t think she should be in the bottom three, based from the judges’ comments to her in yesterday’s episode. Oh well, maybe she don’t have the charisma to the audience, unlike Ramiele, who seems to have a large number of votes because she still keeps surviving even though her performances are not that great. (Is she another Jasmine Trias?) But I am happy for Ramiele. I always hope that she will prove herself each and every week. But I hope she won’t waste this precious time. It’s a competition. It’s about giving your best in your performances.

And the decision? It’s Chikezie who will go home tonight. I think the reason is his wrong choice of song, as well as his “cheesy” performance last night.

American Idol (Season 7): Top 10 Performance Night

IdolBefore anything else, this blog entry is few hours later than the original live broadcast of American Idol because it is shown few hours later here in the Philippines.

But anyway, the theme for this week are the songs released or famous on the year when they were born. Actually, I find today’s episode a little boring because I only know a few songs from the songs they sang. They have a wide variety of song choices, and I just want to respect that those are the songs they chose.

Brooke White sang “Every Breath You Take”. I agree with the judges, the first part was okay, but I didn’t like how it sounded somewhere in the middle up to the last part of the song. It may have been sounded better if she did the piano thing all through out, but even though, it might just sound okay, but not fantastic.

Carly Smithson sang “Total Eclipse Of The Heart”. The song is famous. It’s actually a nice song to sing in a karaoke/videoke. Carly should have done something different with the song. Like what the judges say, the performance is forgettable.

Chikezie Eze sang “If Only For One Night”. I found the song good, but I really don’t like Chikezie’s performances when he sings ballad. Somehow boring.

David Archuleta sang “You’re The Voice”. The song is good. Well, he sang it well. But I agree with Simon, it’s like a theme park performance - it’s like while he’s singing the song, animated creatures will come in, etc.

David Cook sang “Billie Jean”. And it is… Wow. Fantastic. Amazing. It was a brave thing to do and I think he made the right choice. He can be a winner.

Jason Castro sang “Fragile”. It somehow sounded “bossa”. I like bossa nova. I might like the song when I listened to it. But with Jason’s performance, I don’t think I like it that much.

Kristy Lee Cook sang “God Bless The USA”. Okay, I’ll give credits to her for the judges’ good comments to her performance. But her song choice left a big question mark to many. Is it a desperate move, or the right move?

Michael Johns sang “We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions”. Great. At last, he shone. But like what I said last week, many compare him to David Cook. Because of that, it’s like he is somehow behind. But he is very good in tonight’s performance.

Ramiele Malubay sang “Alone”. I think she is sick. She sang it well, though I still don’t think she had a good choice of song, but it’s better compared the last two weeks. I still believe in her that if she can find a perfect song for her, she can really outshine Syesha.

Syesha Mercado sang “If I was Your Woman”. I do not know the song that’s why I was not interested to watch her. Well, according to Randy, it was very good. Oh well, okay. Fine.

Well, it’s like more of my comments are negative. Haha. Now, my bottom three. Hmmm, let me think… Carly Smithson, Jason Castro, and Kristy Lee Cookk (again).

And my top 3… I’ll just make it Top 2… Michael Johns and David Cook.
